Paul spends a lot of time encouraging his readers in the letters to strive for unity with one another, whether in differences or similarities. Thinking in the context of the New Testament church a group of people, Jews and Greeks, for the first time were coming together, following Jesus, and living in their community. There are bound to be moments of dischord. But that is why Paul reminds us, in our differences or in our similarities, we are one in and through Christ and now it is time to represent that love for each other in our community by demonstarting our love for each other to our community.
